Once caught, many fish species are subjected to different processes such as evisceration, filleting, etc. These operations cause the loss of external morphological characteristics that allow identifying the fish species. We offer a service for identifying the species contained in a specific food product using innovatory
techniques based on DNA sequencing..
The following are the main groups of species we can identify:
- Cephalopods: jumbo squid, squid, cuttlefish, octopus, etc.
- Cupleids: herring, sardines, sprat, etc.
- Engraulids: anchovy
- Scombrids: tuna, bonito, mackerel, bellet tuna, etc.
- Gadiforms: codfish, ling fish, haddock, common ling or molva, pollock, whiting, blue whiting, coley, torsk, burbot, etc.
- Merlucids: hake species.
- Mytilids: Perna, Mytilus (mussel species)
- Flatfish: halibut, sole, fluke, mud dabs, winter flounder, etc.
- Salmonids: Atlantic salmon, trout, Pacific salmon, etc.
