The advances in bacterial genomics have allowed the development of increasingly precise tools for the detection and characterization of bacteria. Compared to the traditional identification methods based on morphological evidences, the combination between PCR amplification and DNA sequencing techniques constitutes a highly powerful molecular tool for the identification and taxonomic classification of bacteria

Sistemas Genómicos puts at your disposal a Bacterial Genomic Identification Service that allows identifying any culture-isolated bacterial colony. Below are the two methods of analysis we offer:
  • Complete 16S rDNA sequencing (1500 base pairs): in 90% of the cases it allows bacterial identification to the species level.

  • Sequencing of the 5' end of the rDNA 16S fragment (700 base pairs): in 80% of the cases it allows bacterial identification to the species level.
